Normally these trees would be destroyed but making them into furniture the local crafts people avoid this needless waste and reduce de-forestation elsewhere at the same time.
Spalting is present naturally in Mango Hardwood and it is this that produces the kaleidoscope effect in the colours that you see in the timber – the softer, golden-brown heartwood and the lighter yellow outer wood that, when considered, complement each other to great effect.
The round inner-grain of the timber is reflected both in the top platform and the upward turned base section this offers an attractive parity to the design.
Looks great in any home … The skills needed to carve this sort of table have to be admired – add to this the kiln-dried finish and you’ve got a modern-day antique that would be a bargain at twice the price.
