Handmade conservatory rattan chair

Vintage woven-fibre armchair made by J Johnson & son of Wrexham with broad natural-tone woven arms and removable cream floral cushions. It has a generously proportioned single seat, a high loose back cushion and a matching smaller scatter cushion, all upholstered in a soft cream fabric with taupe leaves and large, subtle flower motifs. The regular close weave runs across the arms, front rail and full back panel, with bound edge detailing framing the sides.

The chair sits low on four small light wood-tone block feet and has a solid, square profile rather than the open look of cane furniture. The seat cushion is deep and the wide arms give it a relaxed, enclosed feel for a reading corner, conservatory or bedroom. There is visible age-related wear and slight marking/softening to the cushion fabric and piping, with some unevenness to the loose cushions, but the woven exterior presents well overall in the photos.
