Furnish Well (“we”, “us”) operates the marketplace at furnishwell.co.uk. We are the data controller for personal data processed on the marketplace. Contact: support@furnishwell.co.uk.
Scope
This policy covers how we collect, use, share, and protect personal data when you browse, create an account, list or buy items, or contact support. It also explains our use of cookies and that Google Analytics only loads after you consent.
Data we collect
- Account: name, email, password (hashed), account type (private/business), optional phone, business details.
- Profile & listings: titles, descriptions, prices, category, delivery options, photos (processed to WebP & thumbs), view/favourite counts.
- Interactions: messages, offers, notifications you enable (e.g., browser push).
- Technical & security: IP, user-agent, timestamps, login attempts, admin actions, error logs, push subscription endpoints.
- Cookie/consent: your cookie consent choice, session ID. Analytics only after consent.
Where data comes from
Mainly from you via forms and actions on the site. We also derive technical/security data automatically. We do not purchase personal data from third parties.
How we use data
- Operate the marketplace (accounts, listings, messaging, future payments).
- Protect the service and users (fraud/abuse detection, rate limiting, audit logs).
- Provide communications you request (transactional emails, on-site/push notifications).
- Improve the product and understand usage (aggregate statistics; GA only after consent).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Sharing & processors
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers (“processors”) for hosting, email, error logging, and—if you consent—analytics. They are bound by contract to protect your data and act only on our instructions.
International transfers
If data is processed outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses).
Retention
We keep account and listing data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward (e.g., to resolve disputes or meet legal requirements). Security logs are kept on a rolling basis then deleted.

We use HTTPS, secure/HttpOnly/SameSite cookies, session hardening, rate limiting, access controls, and ongoing monitoring. No system is perfect, but we work continuously to protect your data.
Your rights

Children
The marketplace is for users aged 16+. If you believe a child used the Service, contact us and we’ll take appropriate steps.
