Buyers
How it worksHow does buying work on Furnish Well?
Open a listing, pick a delivery option (seller delivery, seller-arranged courier, or collection), then tap Buy Now to pay securely. You can message the seller from the listing at any time.
Do I need an account to buy?
Browsing is open to everyone. To message a seller or checkout, you’ll need to sign in or create an account.
How are payments handled?
Card payments are processed by Stripe. We show the full total (item price + any delivery/courier cost) before you pay. We don’t store card details.
What delivery options will I see?
Each seller chooses: seller delivery (with a set radius and optional fee), seller-arranged courier (fixed fee), or buyer collection. You’ll only see the options the seller offers.
Why can’t I buy for delivery — “outside delivery range”?
If your saved postcode is beyond the seller’s delivery radius, that option is blocked. Try “seller arranges courier” (if available), choose “collection”, or message the seller to discuss alternatives.
Can I negotiate on price?
Yes — use Messages on the listing. If you agree on a new price, the seller can update the listing or you can proceed at the agreed price through checkout. Keep all comms and payments on Furnish Well.
What if the item isn’t as described?
Message the seller first. If you can’t resolve it, report the issue from the listing or your order — we’ll review and help mediate where possible.
Can I cancel my order?
If delivery/collection hasn’t happened yet, message the seller immediately. Cancellations are agreed between you and the seller; if there’s a dispute, contact us via the report flow.
How do alerts work?
In Profile → Listing Alerts, set your postcode & radius, then choose sub-categories under any number of main categories. We’ll alert you when matching items go live.
I don’t see alerts for my area.
Check your saved postcode (e.g., “SE7 7AB”) and radius. Choose “All of the UK” to see nationwide results.
What do “Live”, “Sold”, and “Pending” mean?
Live = buyable; Pending = under review; Sold = no longer available.
How do reviews work?
After a completed order, you can rate the seller (1–5 stars) and leave a short review. Reviews are moderated before appearing on the seller’s profile.
Are there buyer fees?
You pay the item price plus any delivery/courier fee shown at checkout. Card processing is included in the total you see.
How do I report a suspicious listing or user?
Use the “⚑ Report” action on the listing and tell us what’s wrong. We review every report.

Get startedHow do I list an item?
Create a listing, add clear photos, write a descriptive title & description, set a fair price, choose delivery options and fees, then submit. Listings may be reviewed before going live.
What do listing statuses mean?
Draft = you’re editing; Pending = under review; Live = visible & buyable; Sold = item sold; Rejected = didn’t meet guidelines (we’ll explain why).
Which delivery options can I offer?
Offer any mix of: seller delivery (set a radius & fee), seller-arranged courier (set a fee), or buyer collection. Buyers must choose one before checkout.
How should I price delivery/courier?
Use realistic costs (fuel, time, courier quotes). You can offer free collection and only charge for courier.
How are payments and payouts handled?
Buyers pay via Stripe at checkout. Add your bank details in Profile for payouts. After delivery/collection and order completion, we trigger your payout (bank processing may take a few days).
When should I mark an order as completed?
After the buyer has collected or you’ve delivered/arranged courier and both parties are happy.
Can I cancel an order?
If you can’t fulfil (e.g., damage), message the buyer immediately and agree next steps. Keep changes on Furnish Well so there’s a record.
What fees do I pay?
We charge a small selling fee plus standard card processing via Stripe. We’ll publish a full fees page; you’ll always see fees clearly before publishing.
How do I become a Verified seller?
Complete your profile (contact number, address/postcode) and keep a good track record. Verified sellers show a badge on listings and their profile.
How do reviews work for sellers?
Buyers can review you after an order. Reviews are moderated before appearing. Your average rating and count show on your profile and listings.
Any restrictions on what I can list?
Second-hand furniture & home items that comply with laws and our policies. No prohibited items or contact details in images/descriptions. Clear photos and accurate info are required.
My buyer is out of my delivery range.
They can pick “seller arranges courier” or “collection”, or message you to discuss alternatives. “Seller delivery” is blocked for buyers outside your radius.
Why was my listing rejected?
Common reasons: unclear photos, missing details, prohibited content, or contact details in text. We’ll state the reason — fix and resubmit.
Tips for great photos?
Daylight; clean background; multiple angles; show flaws; fill the frame. The first photo becomes your listing card image.
Taxes & records
You’re responsible for any taxes on your sales. Keep your own records. (Order exports coming soon.)
How do I pause or delete a listing?
Edit the listing to move it back to Draft or mark it Sold if it’s no longer available.
Messaging rules
Keep chats in-app. We block phone numbers and emails for safety. No harassment, spam, or off-platform payment requests.
